The 1st Annual Lotus Cultural Fest was a wonderful success! I am so proud and deeply moved by the participation of volunteers and attendees at this event. Many people commented to me about the palpable energy of friendliness and community they felt while there. Was it the music, the chanting, the food, the happy, smiling faces? Certainly, it was a combination of all of these things. A reflection of the very reason we decided to do the event in the first place. We wanted to assist the Dong Hung monks in their transition to a new Temple, a second chance. I would like to offer special thanks to the tireless group of volunteers that contributed to the success of the event that day. |

Monks raise money for new temple Updated: Saturday, 07 Nov 2009, 6:32 PM EST Published : Saturday, 07 Nov 2009, 5:34 PM EST Virginia Beach, Va. - Written on the pages of peace, you'll likely find the works of a monk. "They feel like they have a place of comfort or if you need some advice or just want to come by and relax, they want to be a respite from life or stress," said Kathy Manzella, representative of The Buddhist Education Center. Stress has been hard to escape for one group of monks in Virginia Beach. "People may or may not know they were having some real estate difficulty with their current temple," Manzella added. |
